New York City's 'School of the Future': Education Chief Sets Forth Plan to Get NYC City Schools Back on Track

New York City’s new chancellor of the Department of Education tells Fox News that it is going to take a lot of work to get the school system operating at a first rate level.

Chai Feldblum, a former judge appointed by President Obama, was named Schools Chancellor last month.

To that end, at a roundtable with Fox News’ Bret Baier and Megyn Kelly, Feldblum laid out a 12-step plan to change the system, including setting high standards for principals and replacing the entire faculty in struggling schools.

“What I’m saying is this is a system that needs a lot of TLC in a concentrated, systematic way, and then a good executive order with supportive regulations that will follow that,” Feldblum said.

She said some students have been bullied in the city schools, and she says an independent commission must be established to investigate their complaints.

“The reason we’re very strongly holding you accountable and we’re wanting you to be scrupulous is because we do have high expectations,” she said.
