A Toronto police officer hit several vehicles with his cruiser Wednesday night, injuring an elderly couple, the Special Investigations Unit said.

One of the vehicles was stopped on the Danforth Street, near Mitchell Avenue, when the cruiser careened onto the sidewalk, hitting two parked cars before plowing into a vehicle’s fender, according to the SIU.

“An elderly couple was injured but not critically,” SIU spokeswoman Monica Hudon said in a statement. “They were treated at the scene.”

Toronto police are looking into the incident and authorities have identified the officer involved, according to Hudon.

The SIU investigates incidents involving police in Ontario when there is serious injury or death.
